WINGS OF WAR
We had a few games of wings of war on Wednesday.
We hadn't had a game of this in a while but we decided to after finding out thet Pete who was supposed to be bringing stuff to play Stalingrad couldn't make it.
The first game saw me and Mick take 2 Sopwith camels, our objective was to stop Tom and Phil bombing a group of munitions factories. Tom took the Roland C.II and the Albatros D.Va while Phil took the Pfalz D.III.

Me and Mick patrolling the area.

Tom(top of picture) moves toward his target.

For some reason the Albatros takes a right turn and nearly crashes into the Roland luckily both survive unharmed.

Neither of the camels have noticed the Germans yet.

Finally realising they're under attack the camels move to intercept the Roland.

The Roland isn't having a good day this time the Pfaltz nearly hits it.

Mick fires at the Pfalz but causes no damage.

Mick and the Roland's rear gunner exchange fire but neither cause damage. My camel and the Pfalz also fire at each other with the same result.

The Pfalz and my camel narrowly miss crashing into each other, meanwhile the Roland circles round to position itself for the bombing run.

My camel turns to hold off the incoming Pfalz and Albatros while Mick accidentally turns the wrong way and starts to move away from the Roland.

Mick tries to correct his mistake but the Roland has already started its bombing run.

The Roland flies over the factories but the rear gunner is killed by anti aircraft fire before he can release the bombs.

The Pfalz pursues and fires on my Camel severely damaging its controls.

The Roland, unable to release its bombs, breaks from combat and flees closely followed by Mick who fires but only causes minimal damage.

My camel starts to lose height.

And crashes killing the pilot.

Mick fires the last of his ammo at the Roland but causes only minimal damage.

The Roland leaves the field and Mick tries to evade and escape.

Mick is able to outfox both the Pfalz and the Albatros and escape.

That's the end of the first game the second will be on another link.

Cheers

ONGOING PROJECTS
This report is about a few projects myself and Mick are doing at the moment. (Just to clarify I'm doing all the painting. I'm not sure Carl would know which way up to hold a paint brush! Mick.)
Spartacus
I've liked Spartacus and the Third Servile war ever since I watched the film but i only started collecting figures for this since I watched the TV series.
At first I was going to collect 28mm but I instead decided to use 10mm so I could get more figures on the table.
The rebels/slaves I have so far. I don't have a Spartacus figure yet but I'm hoping to get one soon.

Rebel cavalry, all slaves I have so far are Gauls originally but I'm getting more soon.

Rebel infantry

Rebel archers and slingers.

Romans

Roman auxiliary archers.

Roman cavalry. I've read the Romans didn't have much during this war but its nice to have some anyway.

Roman Legionaries and Centurions.

All the Romans.

I'm going to be getting some more figures at Durham wargame show on Saturday from Old Glory.

I'm hoping to get enough figures to play the battle of the Siler river the final battle in the war but due to the number of combatants it will take a while.

Napoleonic Russians and Austrians

Thanks to a useful post by Stavka over on WD3 about the Russians I have decided to get these two projects going. The plan is to do a brigade each of Austrians, Russians and Prussians to use against the French. These can then be expanded at leisure to divisions for each army.

The Russians

The 24 painted figures above were done over 3 nights after reading Stavkas topic. The other 7 will be painted tonight. I don't have mounted command figures yet but each unit will be 4 bases of 8 figures.

A Foundry Grenadier battalion painted about 10 years ago.

I'm planning to pick up the following from Dave Thomas at Durham next Saturday-

Pack of mounted Colonels
2/3 boxes of plastic infantry
2 x 6lbr gun and crew
2 x limbers
1 artillery cart

I will expand the artillery for GdeB but for the time being 2 will do.
With any luck this lot will be done by mid July. Then it will be some cavalry.

The Austrians

I have enough Perry and Victrix plastic figures to do at least 4 36 figure German battalions.

This is the first 36 figure battalion. I am halfway through the 2nd battalion. At the moment i have 4 horse and 4 foot artillery guns but only 1 horse gun painted. I will also need to place an order for some GMB flags for both of these armies.

Its all Greek to me!

I purchased a box of Victrix Greeks some time ago and quickly painted up a base for Hail Caesar.

Not really sure when I will get around to the rest but at least its a start!

ROBOT WARS
Pete brought up his giant robots on Wednesday in our first sci-fi game in a while.
Scenario
Quite basic destroy the other team.
Battle 1
Myself,Tom and Pete took the 3 red and black robots while Mick,Darren and Phil(making a rare appearance) took the 3 green ones.

Phil and Micks robots move into the ruined town while Darren's takes position an a hill.

Tom and my robots move towards the hill at the centre of town while Pete's fails to move.

The two sides move closer.

Me being the natural coward that i am decided to hide behind Toms much bigger and stronger robot.

Pete fires at Darren but causes no damage.

Tom moves atop the hill to get a better view of the battlefield.

Phil's robot.

And Micks.

Tom fires at Darren but no effect.

Phil moves onto the hill and fires at me damaging my arm.

Mick moves round the hill and fires at me destroying my right arm.

Mick and Phil turn their attention towards Tom they fire everything at him.

They destroy his reactor turning his robot into a useless heap of metal.

Seeing this i decide to do an old tradition of mine RUN.

Phil then fires his missile launcher at me.

 And destroys my reactor.

Darren fires at Pete.

His shot goes straight through Pete's robot and it crashes to the ground.

A resounding victory for Phil, Mick and Darren.

Battle 2

Exactly the same scenario but my team got and extra robot. Although Pete described it as cannon fodder.

Tom took the new robot

Once again Darren took up a position on the hill.

 Phil and Mick move up.

Our side groups together.

Tom fires his missiles at Darren but causing no damage.

Me going on what happened last game i decided not to retreat and i attacked Mick but i only caused superficial damage.

Darren fires at Pete no damage.

I once again fired at Mick destroying his left arm.

Darren moves off the hill where tom fires at him again but only causing superficial damage.

Seeing Phil come round the corner Pete turns round and fires at Mick.

He causes catastrophic damage to Micks torso.

Tom takes his new robot and attacks Darren with his pop gun a bit of a David vs Goliath situation(while tom did his firing Darren went to the little wargamers room).

Darren returned to find his robot on the ground destroyed.

Phil fires at me but causes no damage while i return fire and destroy both of his arms.

With only his missile launcher remaining and all his comrades destroyed Phil decides to retreat.

Pete gives chase.

I also gave chase and got back into firing range but i only caused superficial damage to Phil's reactor.

Phil attempts to get revenge. He turns and shoots his missile launcher causing major damage to my torso.

Phil once again tries to retreat with Pete starting to catch up.

Tom fires his robot at Phil's causing superficial damage to his legs.

Knowing that he is unlikely to escape Phil tries to take revenge on me for destroying his arms but doesn't deal any damage.

Pete blocks off any hope of escape Phil had but he continues to fight on.

I once again open fire on Phil.

This time destroying his legs forcing his robot to crash to the ground.

With a victory for each side we finished.

Next up on Wednesday The Battle Of Stalingrad.

Thanks for reading
